Heritage Park

On a lazy afternoon in the park, I painted this scene outside, in the fresh air, surrounded by the sounds of children and birds . The calm air made for perfect reflections in the pond. One passerby commented that I don't paint the actual colors. I smiled and informed him that I paint using colors and small soft  brush strokes to recreate the feeling and mood of the scene as I see and feel it . A cell phone camera can capture a realistic representation of a scene, but an artist recreates the mood and feeling of a place in a moment in time with brush strokes and rich color on canvas that can bring the viewer to that moment and feeling anytime they wish.  He looked at it with new eyes ,smiled and said "yes...I like that ."  THAT is what makes my artist's heart smile.
